An Undercover Skatepark Project

The Undercover Skatepark Project was born from the passion of Jacob and Jenna Skinner, who are dedicated to bringing people together to enjoy various forms of wheeled sports in an indoor setting. Conceived in 2018, this community-based initiative has gained significant momentum within the skateboarding community and beyond. With strong support from organisations such as Portsmouth City Council, the project has come to life.

Our team has tirelessly worked to build a state-of-the-art indoor wheeled sports facility that can be enjoyed all year round, regardless of the weather. We leased a vacated Sainsbury’s supermarket in the heart of Portsmouth and transformed it into a premier indoor skatepark. Located in the Charles Dickens ward, one of the UK’s most disadvantaged areas, our facility aims to make a positive impact on the local community.

Our Mission

At Pitt St, our mission is to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that brings significant benefits to our community and users. Skating and other wheeled sports offer numerous advantages for mental health, providing an excellent way to exercise, relieve stress, and foster a sense of community. By engaging in these activities, individuals can improve their physical fitness, boost their mood, and connect with others who share similar interests.

We are proud to create a space that promotes both physical and mental well-being while uniting people through their love of wheeled sports. Our goal is to make a lasting positive impact on the local community by offering a safe, enjoyable, and supportive environment for everyone.

A Community Interest Company

The Undercover Skatepark Project (USP) has been established as a Community Interest Company (CIC), dedicated to serving the local community. Our new facility, named Pitt St. Skatepark, opened its doors to the public on Saturday, 10th December 2022. This generous skatepark and multi-purpose rink operate six days a week, providing a dynamic space for various wheeled sports. Alongside the skating facilities, we have Pitt St. Kitchen, a vibrant café and bar where visitors can relax and refuel.

In 2023, we are expanding our offerings with the launch of Pitt St. Academy, a comprehensive coaching programme open to all ages. Initially focusing on skateboarding and inline skating, we plan to include scooters and BMX coaching in the future. Birthday parties and celebrations will also be a central part of our events schedule, creating memorable experiences for the community. At Pitt St, we are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment

Sponsors And Supporters

At Pitt St Skatepark, we work in partnership with many local and national companies, offering a fantastic opportunity to support a vibrant community group and bring significant benefits to Portsmouth. By contributing to our growing community, sponsors and supporters can be part of the most thriving community project in the city.

We offer various sponsorship and supporter packages designed to suit different levels of commitment. These partnerships help nurture the next generation, aligning with our family ethos and dedication to fostering a supportive environment.

With a footfall of more than 25,000 visitors in our first year, Pitt St Skatepark is not only a hub for wheeled sports but also a one-of-a-kind music venue in the city. Join us and be a part of something special, supporting a unique and dynamic project that makes a real difference in the community.
